Programme

Session 1: The Women’s Health Revolution: Making women’s health everyone’s business

Speaker: Dr Marina Gerner, Author of The Vagina Business

Hear from the award-winning journalist Dr Marina Gerner who shines a light on the innovators challenging the status quo in women’s healthcare.

Despite making 80% of healthcare decisions, only 4% of medical R&D focuses on women’s health issues. Through interviews with 100 entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors across 15 countries, Gerner highlights groundbreaking solutions for periods, childbirth, menopause, and more, while also exposing the hurdles femtech startups face in a male-dominated VC world.

Gerner will share the story behind the inspiration for her book The Vagina Business and discuss how we can drive more innovation in this underserved yet crucial area.

Session 2: Meet the Trailblazers – Panel Discussion

Speakers:

  • Dr Marina Gerner, Author of The Vagina Business
  • Lucy Hope, Founder of The Daughters of Mars
  • Dr Rumbi Mutenga, Founder of Glacie Health
  • Isla Thomas, Co-founder of GLORIAH

Dr Marina Gerner will interview a panel of successful founders, where together we will explore the themes of the importance of innovation in breaking down barriers in the women’s health industry, how founders are shaping tomorrow’s world for women, and what evidence for change are we seeing as part of the women’s health revolution. This is set to be a lively discussion, which is sure to energise and inspire the room

Session 3: It’s a Bloody Scandal! Endometriosis and the fight behind women’s pain

Speaker: Evelyn Scott, Author of ‘A Bloody Scandal: How Medicine Fails Women in Pain’

Throughout their lives, women are taught that it is normal to live in pain. Evelyn Scott is here to refute that myth. Drawing on themes from her explosive book, ‘It’s a Bloody Scandal’, Evelyn reflects on her own experiences of living with severe endometriosis and shares her findings from conversations with women across the globe. She examines the medical, political and educational failures that are causing preventable harm to women with reproductive conditions everywhere and urgently calls for empathy-led care.

Session 4: Rethinking Period Pain: The Gut Microbiome’s Role in Primary Dysmenorrhea

Speaker: Rocsi Chereches, Nutritionst specialising in Gut and Menstrual Health, Founder of @heralignedhub

Primary dysmenorrhea affects millions of women, yet the conversation often stops at pain management. Emerging research suggests the gut microbiome plays a far greater role than previously recognised, influencing inflammation, immune function, oestrogen metabolism, and the pathways involved in menstrual pain. In this session, Rocsi explores the science behind the gut-menstrual connection, examines the latest evidence linking the microbiome to primary dysmenorrhea, and discusses how this research could reshape the way we approach menstrual health, prevention, and personalised care.
