Social Communications has launched a national campaign to support George Clarke’s new ‘Council House Scandal’ series on Channel 4.
The series begins tonight (31st July) at 9pm and investigates the shortage of good quality council housing across the country, which has left more than a million people on council housing waiting lists.
Clarke, who himself grew up on a council estate, is launching a petition calling on the Government to build 100,000 new council houses every year for the next 30 years.
Social Communications has produced a dedicated campaign microsite to host user-generated content from the public and is managing social media channels to drive support for Clarke’s campaign.
The collaboration follows the agency’s #lovehome digital campaign for the architect’s charity ‘the Ministry of Building Innovation and Education’.
Clarke said: “After working with Social Communications earlier this year, it was a natural decision to bring them on board to help launch and amplify my Council House Scandal campaign.
“Social’s knowledge of the housing sector, as well as its key decision makers and influencers, will be a massive boost in our campaign for more and better council housing across the UK.”
Diana MacCarthy, Social Communications Director Manchester, added: “George stands proud of his council housing roots and is passionate about changing the council housing landscape for future generations – as are we as a placemaking agency that believes in changing lives.”
