Olivia Rodrigo is latest celeb to contribute to Leeds heart charity’s annual art auction

Global superstar and GRAMMY Award-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo has joined the Heart Research UK’s anonymous heART project, lending her support to a unique creative initiative that brings together art and heart health awareness on the recommendation of her idol, friend, Blackpool native and ‘goth you can take home to your mum,’ Robert Smith.

The anonymous heART project is essentially an auction where artists from all over the world donate pieces of art which the public can bid on. It’s a great opportunity to buy iconic art for a fraction of the conventional cost, as many famous coveted artists from all over the world submit their work every year. This year, Olivia Rodrigo has submitted four illustrations to go up for auction.

The anonymous heART project celebrates the power of creativity while helping shine a light on the importance of heart health. Olivia Rodrigo’s involvement adds her voice to a growing community of artists and supporters using creativity to encourage conversations around cardiovascular health. The project started in 2018 by Heart Research UK, and since then over 3500 pieces of artwork have been submitted to raise funds for lifesaving research.

Each year, artists from all around the world submit their artwork to be auctioned anonymously, artists behind the work are only revealed once all bidding is over and the auction closes, hence the title anonymous heART project.

Over years, many famous artists have contributed, including musicians such as The Cure frontman and Blackpool native Smith, who has guested on stage with Rodrigo at 2025’s Glastonbury Festival and 2026’s Primevera; Gorillaz illustrator and Tank Girl Creator Jamie Hewlett, and more traditional artists such as Dame Zandra Rhodes, Deborah Azzopardi, Paul Insect, Julian Opie and others.

“Heart health affects all of us, and we’re thrilled to welcome Olivia Rodrigo to the anonymous heART project,” said Rachel Brooke, project founder and philanthropy manager at Heart Research UK. “Her creativity and influence will help us reach new audiences and inspire more people to take an interest in their heart health.”

The anonymous heART project aims to “demonstrate how art can connect people with important health messages in an accessible and inspiring way.” Through the project, Heart Research UK continues to support pioneering research and encourage people to make positive choices for their heart health.

Leeds-HQ’d Heart Research UK is a charity dedicated to funding innovative research, supporting new projects and helping people live healthier lives, with the aim of reducing the devastating impact of heart disease and circulatory conditions.
