Liverpool agency sees off 20 rivals to land Devon family safety campaign

Liverpool creative agency OneMay has been appointed to deliver a 12-month campaign for Let’s Talk Safer Families, an early intervention programme delivered by Teignbridge District Council with the South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The agency secured the brief following a competitive pitch process involving more than 20 agencies.

OneMay will help parents and carers navigate the complex world children and young people are growing up in, with the campaign covering some of the hardest subjects families face today. Initial themes include teenage relationship abuse, violent pornography and non-fatal strangulation, deepfakes and AI-generated image abuse, misogyny, the manosphere, echo chambers and the normalisation of hateful language and behaviour.

At the centre of OneMay’s winning submission is the campaign platform “Small Talks. Safer Families.” The idea moves the subject away from fear and towards something every parent or carer can act on: Starting small, practical conversations at home.

The work will include a dedicated campaign for dads and male carers, an audience the programme is keen to reach more effectively. The campaign is designed to help fathers feel more confident starting difficult conversations, giving them practical ways to be part of the solution.

The win adds to a strong first half of 2026 for OneMay, following a run of public sector pitch wins.

Lee Weaver, co-founder of OneMay, said: “Professionally, it’s brilliant to keep helping organisations tackle big challenges. Personally, and as a parent in particular, it’s great to be part of something this important, and something that will benefit so many families.”

Rebecca Shwenn, project lead at Let’s Talk Safer Families, added: “OneMay’s proposal stood out for its understanding of the project, our values and our tone. The ‘Small Talks. Safer Families.’ concept built on our existing brand in a way that felt impactful, balanced and true to the work. Their approach to the dads campaign was clear, relevant and creative, and their focus on safeguarding and quality gave us real confidence.”

OneMay will work with the Let’s Talk Safer Families team across the 12-month programme, spanning campaign strategy, brand development, messaging, content and the dedicated dads campaign. Delivery begins this summer.

Let’s Talk Safer Families provides practical, non-judgemental support for parents, carers and professionals across South Devon and Dartmoor, helping families start conversations that keep children and young people safe.
