Are you experienced? New strategic chief for Chester digital consultancy

Sherwen Studios, a creative, strategic and technology-driven digital consultancy for transformation, AI and automation based in Chester, has appointed James Ferguson as head of experience.

Ferguson joins with a remit to create a new experience design practice, integrating AI into product, service, and digital experience design. His approach is both strategic and hands-on, embedding design excellence across the Sherwen Studios team and through client collaboration.

He brings with him a track record of facilitating over 150 strategic and outcome-based workshops, generating significant profit and value for clients, including £5m in annual profit for a well-known ecommerce brand through his workshop process. He has taken the lead in hosting a weekly training session for all employees, helping to upskill the Sherwen Studios team about how AI can be strategically used to enhance business growth.

Ferguson said: “This has been an incredibly exciting time to join Sherwen Studios. They have a great track record of working with some high-profile names and they have an ambitious vision for the future. But what is most apparent is that the team never loses sight of what really matters to their clients. Throughout the business, everything is focused on delivering best practice solutions for what clients genuinely need for long-term success which is exactly how I like to work. It’s really exciting to work with a team who understand the need to combine technology and creativity with customer value.”

Matt Sherwen, MD of Sherwen Studios added: “James has fitted in perfectly with the team, and his experience is crucial to our new service proposition which we launched earlier this year. It’s been a pleasure welcoming him to our senior team and his expertise has been instrumental in helping our staff and our clients react to the ever-changing impact of transformations, AI and automation.”

The appointment follows a year of record-breaking growth for 45-year-old Sherwen Studios. The firm, which originated as a photography studio in 1980 before transitioning into a digital consultancy, recently undertook a successful rebrand and service refinement.

Since March 2024, Sherwen Studios has recruited nine staff members, and taken on major new clients including high street names, as well as more than doubling its YoY revenue.
