Building Blocks buys Dutch digital marketing company

Manchester-headquartered Building Blocks has almost doubled its global headcount by completing the acquisition of Dutch firm Tricode

The move will strengthen Building Blocks’ technical capabilities and enable expansion into new markets, especially Macedonia and the Netherlands, where Tricode is based. The acquisition will be employee numbers at Building Blocks reach 130 and increases global revenue by £4m to £13m.

Tricode’s CEO Evert Jan van Schuppen added:  “This is a great move for our company and our clients, who will benefit from the breadth of services that Building Blocks and the wider Dept network can offer, including consultancy and strategy, experience design and digital marketing services.”

Tricode, which supplies Customer Experience Management solutions, was founded in 1999 and employs more than 60 people at its offices in Veenendaal in the Netherlands and Skopje in Macedonia.  It works with high-profile clients including Liberty Global, Koninklijke Bibliotheek and Rabobank.

Building Blocks was founded in 2007 and has a multidisciplinary team of 70 operating from Manchester, Zaragoza and Boston. The agency helps global companies with digital technologies and has clients including Triumph Motorcycles, Yara International and Kaspersky Labs.

In 2016, the agency achieved a 34% increase in global revenue. Building Blocks is part of Dept – an international network of 10 digital agencies.
