Mobile software developer Apadmi was among the prizewinners at this year’s Made in the North West Awards.

The Manchester-based company collected the Technology Award for their innovative work on mobile app development, with judges commenting that the company’s growth was “impossible to ignore” and was “good news for the North West”. Liverpool-based mobile app developer Apposing was runner-up.

Garry Partington, CEO and founder of Apadmi, said: “This is an exciting time for the digital sector in the North West, and we have definitely felt the benefit of the digital buzz in the city, with the introduction of MediaCity helping to boost the city’s confidence and optimism.

“The award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our 50-strong team here at Apadmi, and we are committed to continuing in our efforts to create the best possible mobile apps and technology solutions for our clients.”

Founded in 2009 by its four directors, the company built the BBC’s iPlayer Radio app and has also created mobile products for BT, BlackBerry, Visit Britain and The X Factor.

The Made in the North West ceremony was hosted at Ribby Hall in Preston.
