Weatherman Talbot rearrested in historic sex abuse probe

Granada Reports weather presenter Fred Talbot has been rearrested by police investigating allegations of historical child sex abuse at a school in Cheshire.

The 63-year-old, who became a household name as Fred the weatherman on ITV’s This Morning when it was based in Liverpool in the 1980s and 90s, is a former biology teacher at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.

He was first arrested in April by officers from Greater Manchester police, who conducted a search of Talbot’s house in Bowdon.

He remains on police bail in relation to one count of indecent assault, but no further action has been taken in relation to the other offences he was originally arrested on suspicion of.

Today he was again arrested on suspicion of indecent assaults and gross indecency in relation to five other former pupils, and was also arrested on suspicion of indecent assault in relation to an alleged offence in the North East.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
