VR Grand Prix simulator Simulation Station comes to Sheffield

Simulation Station

Sheffield’s Orchard Square has signed up motor-racing simulator-meets-motor sport-themed bar Simulation Station as its latest attraction, and the first of its kind in South Yorkshire.

At the new VR attraction families and friends can race each other on world famous, laser-scanned tracks with more than 100 cars to choose from.

Realistic interiors with surround sound audio and large triple monitors giving an impressive 81″ view make sure that every contestant is on the road to a fun day out.

The new venue will also host a car-themed bar for visitors, with funky furniture and racing memorabilia where they can enjoy a relaxing drink making it the perfect family get together, party venue, or work gathering.

Simulation Station owner and Sheffield native, Daniel Eshelby explained how he came up with the concept: “I’ve loved motorsport ever since my dad bought me a go-kart when I was 13 years old. As a teenager we travelled up and down the UK racing at different tracks and I went on to manage a kart track for several years.

“Karting is seen as the gateway to motor sports but it is very expensive, and the cost can put off a lot of people. My ambition with Simulation Station, having visited over 30 kart tracks from Northern Ireland right down to Cornwall, is to launch and nurture the new grassroots of motorsports, offering a much cheaper way to enjoy and get involved in a competitive motorsport without compromising on enjoyment – and where better to start that in Sheffield and my home region of South Yorkshire?”

Prices start from £10 for a 20-minute practice session, going right up to the more formal Grand Prix, which features a 45-minute practice, qualifying session and race experience for £25.
