Two new hires as Webmart expands into education and membership

Sustainable marketing agency Webmart has appointed two new business development managers, James Fear and Alex Buck, as it expands into two new dedicated sectors – education and membership.

Fear joins Webmart as business development manager, head of education & membership to build relationships and strategic partnerships with higher education establishments and membership bodies. James brings with him over 25 years specialist sector experience and consultative skills and has an in-depth understanding of the challenges and needs of in-house marketing teams that are looking to better attract, engage, and retain students and members.

Fear said: “I love the ethos of Webmart and have long-admired the work they do. They have a real strength in integrated and sustainable marketing and I’m really excited about bringing this expertise to universities, colleges, schools, and memberships organisations – helping them to better understand and reduce the environmental impact of their marketing, and be more effective in a much more integrated and joined-up way.

“In the push towards Net Zero, many organisations have done much to reduce their carbon emissions but the carbon footprint of marketing, especially digital marketing, is all too often ignored. Better, more effective marketing is more sustainable, and I’m looking forward to helping future clients in the education and membership sector to be much more environmentally and commercially successful.”

Also joining Webmart is direct mail and print specialist Alex Buck, who joins from LDM UK where he held the position of head of direct mail. He said: “I feel like I’ve found my home with Webmart, and I’m really proud to be working with such a responsible business. I’ve always looked up to them as a company and it is great to be in a role providing sustainable marketing to businesses, including direct mail and print which are very powerful as part of the marketing mix.”

Webmart clients include Interflora, Nintendo, COOK Foods, East of England Co-op, Kings College London, Leeds Beckett University and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH). The agency was recently awarded ‘highly commended’ in the Sustainable Business of the Year Award, part of the Lloyds Bank British Business Excellence Awards, recognising Webmart as a business that puts sustainability, social and environmental impact at the core of its values, operations and ambitions.

Webmart, which employs 40 people in Oxfordshire and Yorkshire was founded in 1996 to benefit both people and the planet, making a positive social impact and donating more than £790,000 to charity. The sustainable marketing agency even has its own 164-acre woodland in Scotland which it is rewilding, to bring its business and closer to nature.
