Corrie star fronts One Stockport campaign film to encourage visitors to shop locally
One Stockport has released its new campaign film featuring Coronation Street actor Will Mellor to encourage shoppers to support local businesses.
Stockport-born actor Mellor, also known for his role in TV series Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, features in the ‘It’s Time to Get’ film which showcases and promotes businesses in Stockport to encourage visitors to shop and meet locally.
The campaign produced by One Stockport, which was devised as a movement launched to help with the economic recovery from the Covid-19 crisis, is supported by a poster and social media campaign.
Will Mellor said: “Like towns and cities across the UK, the pandemic has been tough for all of us. But it’s hit the smaller independent businesses especially hard. Which is why we need to be thinking ‘local’ in everything we do. Whether we’re shopping, having a night out or meeting friends, let’s stay local and buy local and let’s get the borough’s businesses bouncing again!”
Steve Oliver, Chair of Stockport Economic Alliance, added: “By supporting local businesses, we can help to rebuild our local economy; by building on the resilience and the support we will all become better connected; and by building confidence and staying strong we can all work together to deliver a successful recovery.

One Stockport has been developed in partnership with Stockport Council, Stockport Economic Alliance, Marketing Stockport and Stockport town centre’s Business Improvement District.
