The UK’s biggest men’s weekly magazine is shutting its print edition, to move online.
ShortList Media is also rebranding itself as The Stylist Group as it refocuses on the women’s title, Stylist. While Stylist has a smaller print run, it does have double the revenue of the men’s magazine.
The magazine was distributed to around half a million people each week across Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle in the North of England as well as London, Scotland and Birmingham.
The title will continue to exist online.
According to Campaign, it’s anticipated that “at least 20 jobs” are likely to go.
ShortList was founded in 2007 by Mike Soutar, a former editor of Maxim and FHM. In 2013, it was run as a 50/50 joint venture with DC Thomson, which took full control in 2015.
A few weeks ago, Soutar stepped down as as chairman of ShortList Media, a part-time role he’d held since 2016. He’ll be leaving the board at the end of the month.
Ellis Watson, the executive chairman of DC Thomson Media, is replacing him.
