The British Film Industry and Creative England have released more details about their new filmmaking centre in Sheffield.
The Sheffield Talent Centre has been set up to help new and emerging filmmakers make their first fiction production.
It’s part of BFI’s Net.Work, which was established to support writers, directors and producers from the nations and regions.
The module of 6-monthly events will look at the entire process of making a film, from the development stages, right through to financing, distribution, packaging and finding an audience.
Those enrolled on the course will hear from industry experts including Paul Fraser (writer and director), Diarmid Scrimshaw (Inflammable Films), Rachel Robey and Al Clark (Wellington Films), Jamie Wolpert (BFI Film Fund), Richard Holmes (Creative England – Production) and Paul Ashton (Creative England – Development).
The course is free, although with just 40 places available in Sheffield, competition is likely to be high.
Those that complete the modules will be eligible to pitch for further individual development support.
