Reach Editor-in-Chief steps down

Lloyd Embley, the Group Editor in Chief at Reach, is to step down after 30 years.

Embley will step down with immediate effect, meaning that the publisher’s editors will now report directly to CEO, Jim Mullen

Joining the Mirror in 1994, he’s been Editor of the Sunday People, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily and Sunday Mirror and since 2014, Editor-in-Chief of Trinity Mirror and then Reach – including all of its regional titles.

“I am incredibly lucky to have worked for so long with some amazing colleagues in an industry I love. I joined the Mirror on a six-month contract so 30 years feels like a pretty decent innings,” he said.

“I leave behind a group of amazingly talented editors and journalists. They are the best in the business and I wish them and their titles every success. I will miss them all enormously but I am excited about the future.”

During his tenure, he was in charge of the creation of multi-platform newsrooms across national titles and the more recent expansion of its titles in the United States.

“Lloyd’s commitment to the business and keen editorial instincts have helped steer our titles through many changes in recent years. He will be missed by many here at Reach and we wish him well in the future,” added Reach Chief Executive Jim Mullen.
