Former business editor, PR agency owner and current chairman of Liverpool PR agency Paver Smith, has been appointed as a trustee of the independent charity The Wordsworth Trust.

Based at Wordsworth’s Lake District home, Dove Cottage, The Wordsworth Trust works to preserve the “legacy of the nation’s greatest Romantic poets” by enabling public access to Wordsworth’s former home, which houses the largest collection of works by the poet and collections from other writers and artists of the period.

In addition to keeping the past alive, the Trust also endeavours to celebrate the present through hosting and supporting contemporary poets and enhancing budding poets’ skills through workshops and other activities.

Heal is a former daily newspaper journalist whose last role was as business editor of what was the Liverpool Daily Post.

He subsequently joined the PR agency Harrison Cowley before he led an MBO and subsequently sold the agency to Huntsworth.

He joined Paver Smith as chairman three years ago.

Michael Mcgregor, director of the Wordsworth Trust, said: “I am delighted that David, a long-standing supporter of The Wordsworth Trust, has joined our board.  His business acumen, combined with a passion for literature, will be a great asset.”
