Take Me Out star Paddy McGuinness has signed up for a guest role in Coronation Street.
Announcing that McGuiness will play a character who meets the Tinker and Bobbs families on a camping holiday, producer Stuart Blackburn welcomed the actors.
He said today: “It’s an absolute delight to be working with Paddy who is a talented actor with a flair for comedy that will ensure he fits right in with the Corrie cast.”
McGuinness, whose Phoenix Nights co-star Peter Kay appeared in one episode as Shelley Unwin’s date Eric Gartside in 2004, said his character would be a humorous one.
“Being asked to appear in Coronation Street was a very special moment for me.
“I remember Peter telling me how much he enjoyed his guest spot on the show and I can’t wait to get started.
“It’s an iconic and much loved show, not just in the UK but around the world. The character I’ll be playing is very funny and I’m sure the Corrie fans will love him.”
Filming starts next month, with episodes on location, and will transmit in August.
