number16Manchester’s Maker Projects production company has released a film inspired by WW1 uniforms and the North East coast to promote a fashion designer at Stockholm Fashion Week.

Called Lost Memories, the evocative film celebrates the work of Swedish fashion designer Isabell Yalda Hellysaz, a Vogue Young Vision Award nominee and graduate of The Cumbria Institute of the Arts.

Maker Projects creative director Nick Marchant – said the film was ‘a labour of love after being introduced to Isabell’s work.’

He said: “There is a futuristic, utilitarian quality to the collection, with the tailoring inspired by WWII uniforms and some of the fabrics have a real Space Age feel. I imagined a woman obsessed by the abstract noises and frequencies of her environment.

“The Maker team and I discovered some sound mirrors – huge concrete structures used in WWII as early warning systems – in a remote area on the North East coast of England that used to be owned by the ministry of defence. It is a strange disappearing place, where the sea is reclaiming the land and taking these concrete structures back. It is the perfect backdrop to our story.”

Designer Yalda Hellysaz said: “This is so exciting. The film is amazing, Its so mysterious I LOVE it. I am showing this week at Stockholm Fashion Week to promote my brand. Thanks to Nick, Alisa and the Maker Projects team for making such an inspiring film and defining my designs through a character.”
