Simon Hill has moved from Haymarket to join Newsquest as digital platforms director.
Hill has been at Haymarket for 12 years, the last four as digital technology director, when he led a 45-strong development team.
He will lead the publisher’s digital media teams as it negotiates what it described in June as an “accelerated” programme of digital development.
The publisher’s titles, which include the Wirral Globe, Northern Echo and York Press, have only just moved to a responsive platform.
Hill said: “I’m delighted to be joining Newsquest at a time of such opportunity. It’s a company that’s clearly got real digital ambition.”
Mark Smith, Newsquest’s digital media managing director, added: “Simon has a great deal of experience in leading digital media teams and that’s exactly what we need as we accelerate our programme of digital development.”
Overall, Newsquest has over 150 brands in print, online and mobile, amounting to 6.5m print readers a week and almost 18m visitors a month online.
