The Co-operative Bank has taken out more full-page adverts across national print media as it seeks to draw a line under its recent bad press.

The ad, created by Leo Burnett, was placed in Sunday newspapers yesterday and featured a letter from Niall Booker, the chief executive of the Manchester-headquartered bank.

In it, he admits that 2013 was “a testing year” for the bank but thanked “customers, colleagues and investors who have demonstrated overwhelming loyalty and support throughout”.

He added: “For over 140 years, the ethics and values of The Co-operative Bank have set us apart. I am proud to say that these ideals are now enshrined in our constitution.

“Whilst delivering our business plan remains challenging, we are excited by the opportunity for The Co-operative Bank to repay the faith you have shown in the Bank.”

The bank also ran a series of full-page adverts in November, but two weeks later it was thrown into disarray by the emergence of lurid revelations concerning former chairman Rev Paul Flowers. Ironically, a further update on Rev Flowers’ activities was published in the Daily Mail yesterday.

The latest ad campaign was planned and bought by Rocket.
