Johnston Press group editor to leave

Susan Windram, group editor of Johnston Press subsidiary North East Press’s northern weekly titles, is to leave the publisher.

Windram currently holds overall responsibility for 10 titles including the Northumberland Gazette and Morpeth Herald.

She has also edited the Selkirk-based Southern Reporter for 10 years.

It’s understood her role was not under threat from redundancy, and she is to take up a new writer and sub-editor position at lifestyle magazine Scottish Field next month.

She said: “I have enjoyed my time as editor of The Southern Reporter and as group editor for North East Press’s weekly titles.

“It has been a privilege for me to lead such dedicated and talented staff in the Borders, Galloway and north Northumberland.

“However, after 10 years, I felt the time was right for a new challenge,” she added to HTFP.
