ITV has confirmed that Manchester-set Scott & Bailey will finish after the current series.
Produced by Red Production Company, the drama starring Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp is currently enjoying its fifth run.
But the broadcaster has told Radio Times that there will be no more.
“It’s a mutually agreed decision by all parties,” it said. “We totally respect that decision.”
Scott & Bailey was originally conceived by Sally Wainwright – who also penned Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax and Unforgiven – and retired detective Diane Taylor, who previously worked within the Greater Manchester Police Force.
The final three-parter has two episodes left to run.
