‘I want to see the Artetas running down the touchline’: Robbie Savage and Emma Jones host new Planet Sport podcast

Planet Sport’s burgeoning betting & gaming brand Planet Sport Bet today launches new sports podcast: On Another Planet.

Hosted by Planet Sport ambassadors and well-respected football personalities, Robbie Savage and Emma Jones, the new podcast covers everything from insider football knowledge fans won’t find anywhere else, to lighter touch lifestyle conversations.

The podcast, produced in conjunction with sport audio experts Voiceworks Sport, who will also distribute the podcast via their Sport Social Podcast Network, hits streaming platforms today, and also delves into Savage’s unique insight into the world of football with his perspectives both as a former player and, more recently, as director of football at Macclesfield FC.

In one surprise comment from the launch episode, Savage compares his role at Macclesfield to his Premier League playing days: “Having an investment in a football club, the emotions are higher now than when you played. It’s worse now losing for Macclesfield than it was a Premier League Player”

Each week, On Another Planet is set to feature guests from sport’s inner circles. The first episode was joined by esteemed football journalist, James Marshment, editor of Premier League transfer site, TEAMtalk.

Getting stuck into the topic of the Premier League, the hosts and Marshment talk about Luton’s performance with Savage remarking, perhaps controversially, “If Luton Town stay up, I don’t care if Liverpool win the quadruple, if City regain the Champion’s League, Rob Edwards is Premier League Manager of the Season.”

Controversies and outspoken opinions are welcomed on the podcast. Commenting on Arsenal’s rave celebrations after they put Liverpool to bed at the weekend, Marshment said, “You don’t want these muted celebrations. I don’t like the Ancelotti-like raising the eyebrow, just accepting ‘yeah we’ve won that one’. I want to see the Diego Simeones; I want to see the Artetas running down the touchline.”

The podcast also welcomes questions and perspectives, which listeners can post on Planet Sport Bet’s Twitter (X), @planetsportbet. Alternatively, Emma Jones will be posting on her Instagram story each week asking for questions at @eljonesuk.

Commenting on the release of the podcast, Jones said: “I’m so excited to launch On Another Planet with Robbie. It’ll give us both the opportunity to discuss the big talking points from the weekend’s football and it’ll give everyone the chance to ask Robbie questions about his role as director of football at Macclesfield (the stuff we actually want to know!)

“This is going to be a raw, honest and open chat between two pals, plus a rotating panel of football experts from the Planet Sport network, so at least one of us will be talking sense.”

On Another Planet is owned and operated by Planet Sport, produced by Voiceworks Sport and sponsored by Planet Sport Bet. It is available on Spotify, Apple and Amazon now.
