Greggs, the north east headquartered bakery chain, is looking for agencies to handle its digital and social media account.
According to a report on CampaignLive, the Newcastle-based high street brand wants to reposition its ‘food-on-the-go offering’ and is looking for a specialist digital agency.
A number of agencies will pitch next week with a decision expected before Christmas.
Greggs is currently targeting customers who pick up food to consume while out and about, moving away from take-home food.
Earlier this year the company was hit by a social media emergency when people searching online for details of the Greggs were instead served up a spoof account showing a logo with added offensive words.
The chain’s food offering is being redeveloped and Gregg’s has refurbished hundreds of outlets to appeal to the food-on-the-go market, said the retailer’s chairman, Ian Durant, in its annual financial report earlier this year.
One brand move saw Havas PR being employed to market the company’s hot dogs in New York.
