Dock10 at MediaCityUK has announced the launch of a new fully immersive virtual reality service.

It says that 360VR will “push the boundaries within the media sector” and be available for both short and long form work.

“With the anticipated enormous growth in consumers adopting 360VR headsets we felt that it was  an important strategic move for us to develop experience in the production of 360VR content,” explained Mark Senior, CEO of dock10.

“Our existing infrastructure and skills made this a natural extension for our business and provides us with a compelling proposition. With the technology moving incredibly fast in this area, we are constantly looking at new solutions to ensure that we can create the highest quality content alongside our clients. This is not aimed solely at broadcast clients – we already seeing significant interest from both the corporate and creative sectors and are very excited to add this to the list of services dock10 has to offer.”

It will capture real-life environments and then enhance them with audio-visual effects, which you can then explore in full 360 degrees via mobile, desktop or virtual reality headsets.

The first show to use the facility was BBC’s The Voice. dock10 created the immersive shorts, with footage captured on multi-camera 4K rigs and then used its post facilities to do the edit, dubbing and grade.

Dock10 will be showcasing the technology at next week’s Prolific North Live.
