Disney releases first images from Rooney’s Wagatha documentary

The first images have been released from the new documentary going behind the scenes of the Wagatha Christie trial.

Made for Disney+, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story will tell the story through exclusive access to Rooney, alongside interviews with family, friends and key players involved in the trial.

It’s the latest look at one of the biggest tabloid trials in the UK, following versions for Channel 4 and even a podcast from the Liverpool lawyers who represented Rooney.

Speaking of lawyers, Rebecca Hardy trademarked Wagatha Christie in the UK for a number of uses – including broadcasting – which probably explains why it’s the “Wagatha Story.”

The 3-part series finds out how Rooney became an amateur online sleuth to find an explanation for why private stories concerning herself and her family continued to appear in the media, and cameras film all the way through to the High Court defamation trial.

The documentary is made by Dorothy Street Pictures and Lorton Entertainment. Executive Producers are Julia Nottingham, Emma Tutty, Sam Starbuck, Julian Bird, Ed Barratt and Paul Stretford (Wayne Rooney’s agent).

The series is directed and produced by Lucy Bowden.
