Kieran Edwards, the co-owner of Manchester production company, Dead Pixel Films has left the company.
He said he’d sold his shares, but said he leaves “on good terms” in order to focus on his directing career.
“I’ve loved every minute of the last 5 years but the time came for me to make a change. If I combine my time with Dead Pixel with the previous 5 years, I’ve spent almost a decade building businesses across both advertising and production and juggling management, new business / sales, HR, finance etc as a bi-product of being a self-employed creative,” he explained.
“But I’m now at a point in my career where I feel like I’ve had my fix in running businesses and I want to focus purely on what I love, which is writing & directing. It’s been a tough decision, and a risky one, but I’m beyond excited to zone in on challenging myself creatively and showcasing what I can do as a commercials director.”
Edwards started out in social media, at agencies including CheethamBellJWT and Bring Digital, before joining Shoot The Moon, initially as Social Strategy Director and later Operations Director.
In 2019, he moved to Dead Pixel Films as Creative Director, joining Cal Thomson. In 2020 he became a director and co-owner.
The company grew to a team of 7 and recently opened a 4,000sq ft studio space.
Dead Pixel will continue under the leadership of Thomson.
