Digital radio coverage has been extended to Hebden Bridge, Darwen and Stocksbridge.
It’s part of an ongoing roll out of transmuters across the country, with 97% of the population due to be able to tune into DAB by 2015.
“It is fantastic that more listeners will be able to enjoy the full range of BBC services. Extending national DAB coverage is an important part of building a digital future for radio,” said Helen Boaden, BBC’s director of radio.
The 12 new transmitters will bring DAB to an additional 50,000 households and improves digital radio reception for more than half a million.
The new areas covered are: Darwen (Lancashire), Hebden Bridge, Maesteg, Luddenden & Sowerby Bridge, Stocksbridge (South Yorkshire), Matlock & Wirksworth, Oxford & south west Oxfordshire, Rye, East Grinstead, Okehampton, Jedburgh and Biggar.
