The owners of Liverpool’s Albert Dock, have joined forces with the National Broadcasting School to launch Albert Dock Radio.

The station starts broadcasting this week and will offer training and apprenticeships for those looking for a career in radio.

“Launching Albert Dock Radio in partnership with National Broadcasting School allows us to do two things, create engaging content for our visitors to enhance their experience, while at the same time we are creating opportunities for local young people to experience a career in media,” explained Sue Grindrod, chief executive, Albert Dock Liverpool.

“We have a number of strands that will create opportunities for young people through the Albert Dock Charitable Foundation and now Albert Dock Radio. This is an incredible opportunity, and who knows, some of our graduates could end up being broadcast stars of the future.”

National Broadcasting School (NBS) is based in Liverpool and operates across the country.

“We are so passionate about developing talent for broadcast, and when we explored partners, Albert Dock was our first call as it has its own community and it will give our students so many rich stories from every corner; from going behind the scenes at Tate Liverpool’s exhibitions, to traditional saddlery skills at Leather Satchel Company, all while creating an archive of the voices of people who live, work and visit the Dock on a daily basis,” added Jason Harborow, chairman, National Broadcasting School.

“This is a professional radio station with the highest production values, the most amazing technology, and expert broadcast professionals who will share that depth of knowledge with the newest crop of up-and-coming broadcast talent who are trying to get a break into the industry.”

The radio can be streamed online through albertdock.com.
