Blue Moon rising – but not in Manchester

(l-r) Blue Moon new hire Jennifer Scullion, founder Amanda Reynolds and client manager Keera Tate

Blue Moon Marketing – not a division of Manchester City FC, but a Sunderland-based marketing agency which has wilfully spurned the temptation to call itself Black Cat – is scaling up with two recent appointments, at least five more to come, and a new Doxford Park office.

The growth comes following a number of new contract wins for the agency, which provides services including branding and design, strategy and planning, website development, social media management and content and copywriting services. It is currently on the lookout for experienced client managers, graphic designers, copywriters and a media and videographer to support its growth plans.

The agency’s most recent appointment within is Jennifer Scullion, who has joined as senior client manager and will be responsible for managing the organisation’s client list across sectors from construction and energy to health & fitness and fashion, via financial and cyber security.

Scullion is a highly experienced marketing, PR and communications professional and joins from in-house role at local construction firm Tolent – a position she held for over four years.

She said: “I was unexpectedly made redundant in February after the firm I was working for went into administration. I found myself in the unique position of having the chance to really take a step back and think about what I wanted to do and where my next career move should be.

“I’ve worked in-house for over 10 years and never thought I could, or would work for an agency but after meeting the team and listening to the vision for the business, it made me think twice. I’m delighted to be here.”

Blue Moon Marketing is a child of the pandemic, launching in 2021 under founder owner and Anne Reynolds. Before Blue Moon Marketing, Anne worked for several agencies, including North East stakwarts Guerilla Comms and Decide, where she managed large global accounts including P&G, Clearblue and Shiseido Group.

Reynolds said: “The scale and growth of the business has come a lot quicker than I had originally planned. When I decided to set-up my own agency, I remember being told that I’m starting at the worst possible time and I had also just become a new mum so it’s not been easy but look how far we’ve come. I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved and excited for the what the future holds.

“Culture is everything for Blue Moon, so as part of this recruitment drive, I’m looking for talented professionals to strengthen the core leadership team. I’m really excited to have her on board. We’re here to break down barriers and offer a fresh approach to how external marketing services are perceived and delivered.”
