Reach has appointed a new Editor of its Chronicle Live publications, following Gavin Foster’s move to The Northern Echo.
Sophie Barley has been promoted to the role, having been Regional Audience Editor at the title for more than 6 years. The former reporter at Teesside Gazette and Scarborough Evening News led the launch of its “Live” brands in Northumberland and Darlington.

The publisher also confirmed that Graeme Whitfield, its North East Business Editor, would become Brand Editor for The Journal.
Foster, who had been the Editor of The Chronicle since 2000 is joining The Northern Echo, replacing Karl Holbrook, who is moving to the Daily Express next month.
