Ambitious project launched in Prolific North and Manchester Metropolitan University partnership – we need your contributions

mcuk2020

An exciting opportunity has opened up for Greater Manchester’s digital and creative businesses to inform vital research and innovation with Prolific North and Manchester Metropolitan University.

The digital publisher and university are partnering on a project which will bring together businesses of varying sizes in Greater Manchester for a large-scale conversation about innovation and productivity.

It’s in response to evidence suggesting that while the region’s creative, digital and tech sector is the fastest-growing outside London, its productivity is lower than the national average. Greater Manchester has the third highest number of creative and digital businesses in the UK – making it essential to close the productivity gap.

We’re looking for businesses interested in developing and using new technologies, as well as those already adopting them, to have their say. Those businesses will be invited to be part of an important innovation project with opportunities for all involved.

Research roundtables

We’ll be hosting a selection of roundtables to inform the research – bringing together business figures from Greater Manchester to find out what they require to push innovation further than ever. They’ll get the unmissable chance to contribute to the conversation on how investment could be allocated in Greater Manchester to ensure regional economic growth and productivity in the region.

The one-hour roundtables are taking place on October 21st and 22nd, hosted virtually. These exclusive sessions will give you a chance to contribute to this vital conversation about productivity and innovation in Greater Manchester. Places are limited at these events, so please sign up for your chance to attend here.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from Greater Manchester businesses active in Technology & Creative Technology (video, animation, AR and VR), Online Retailing, Advertising, Traditional Retail, and Commercial & Retail Property.

Organisations of all sizes are also invited to complete our survey, which can be found via the link below. This tackles many of the same issues being discussed at the roundtables, and will be a vital contribution to our understanding of how to support productivity and innovation in the region.

We want to find out what businesses’ requirements are for making better use of innovation – and collect ideas from the industry about what can be done to foster more of it.

This research provides the unique opportunity to have a say in the future of the regional economy, and help Prolific North and Manchester Met form a more detailed picture on the needs of businesses within the sector to innovate, their preferences for receiving support, and the strength of their desire to create new products and services.

Kindly note, all contributors to the survey and roundtables must represent Greater Manchester-based businesses.
