Adrian Van Klaveren returns to BBC News

Adrian Van Klaveren, who oversaw BBC Radio 5 Live’s move to MediaCityUK is to return to BBC News.

The former 5 Live controller was moved into a “non-news role” following the Pollard report.

In 2012 he was brought in as part of a temporary BBC News management team, but stepped down following the events surrounding a Newsnight Report, which wrongly implicated Lord McAlpine.

Since that time he has been editing the BBC’s Great War project, overseeing its programming for the centenary of World War I.

BBC internal magazine, Ariel has reported that he will become head of strategic change in news and current affairs.

His arrival is part of a wider restructure of the division, in order to save £48m a year.
