Used car online retailer Cazoo has agreed a three-year agreement to become the main partner and shirt sponsor of Everton.

The deal, which takes effect from the end of the current season, will see Cazoo branding on shirts, throughout Goodison Park, on official club merchandise, across the club’s website and on the media backdrops featured on televised football coverage.

The deal is said to be worth £10million a year.

Founded in 2018 by CEO Alex Chesterman OBE, who was also behind property website Zoopla and LoveFilm, Cazoo has raised over £180million as it seeks to accelerate the UK’s shift to online car buying.

Its latest round, earlier this year, was led by DMG Ventures alongside other investors including General Catalyst, CNP (Groupe Frère), Mubadala Capital, Octopus Ventures, Eight Roads Ventures and Stride.VC.

Chesterman said: “This opportunity will help significantly enhance our brand awareness as we look to make Cazoo a household name.

“We look forward to working closely with the club as part of our mission to provide the best possible car buying experience to consumers across the UK.”

Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Everton’s CEO, said the club was confident Cazoo “will be a great partner for the club and our fans in the years to come”.

The Toffees were previously sponsored by Nigerian gambling company, SportPesa.
