A new bi-monthly glossy food magazine for the North is to launch next month.

Bitten will have an initial print run of 20,000 and will be distributed free around Manchester, Liverpool and elsewhere in the North West. It will also be available in digital format.

As well as celebrating the best of the North’s food and culture, it will feature travel, style and design.

It’s the brainchild of Helen Ramsbottom and Chris Grimes, the former Manchester Confidential commercial and sales directors, and former City Life editor David Lloyd.

Ramsbottom said: “Bitten has been months in the planning and we’re delighted we can finally announce the birth of what we plan to be the definitive food bible for the North West and beyond.

“There is a gap in the market for an honest, beautiful and passionate magazine that brings genuine news stories, features and insight for an intelligent, urban readership.”

Lloyd added that he had already assembled a team of writers, designers and photographers. “We will be covering everything from road trips to back-yard bakeries, food slams to farm shops with Bitten’s signature mix of smart advice, immersive photography and expert reporting on food, design, style and travel,” he said.

“We will also offer practical ways for readers to step out of the weekly routine, and to see, hear, feel and taste the world around them. It’s about finding the stories, people and passions that truly nourish us all.”
