Andy Farrow, the owner of Northern Music Company has bought a stake in I Like Press as he expands into the music pr sector.

It means the specialist Leeds-based PR agency will fall under the Northern Music Group (Holdings) umbrella, which also includes a management firm, booking and music publishing division as well as record labels Graphite, Omerch and Versity Music in Sweden.

“Andy Farrow first showed interest in I Like Press over a year ago. When he outlined his vision to us it became an easy decision. A no brainer so to speak. We have formulated some great plans, linking in with more regional and building on our festival work. Andy brings in over 25 years experience so it’s exciting times ahead,” explained Simon Fogal from I Like Press.

The agency was established in 2010 and has worked with And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and I Like Trains as well as festivals including Live at Leeds, Beacons, and Recon.

Farrow’s NMC operates out of Saltaire in Shipley, W. Yorks and stated that in spite of well publicised problems within the music industry, he’s actually seen growth:

“While some in the industry complain of falling revenues the last two years have seen huge areas of growth with my companies, as a management company we have to have knowledge of all areas of the business and be aware of total marketing spend verses actual record sales and I have to say I was very impressed with what I Like Press achieved on our acts that they did campaigns on.

“So I saw a gap in the PR market for affordable, effective PR and felt that it was a company worth investing in and that I could bring them more business.”
