Universities from across Europe are launching a new online course to tackle the digital skills gap.

Salford Business School at the University of Salford is taking the lead in the UK on the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for digital and social media marketing.

The course is designed to help individuals and business to analyse, plan, execute and then evaluate digital marketing activities.

“The online marketplace has no conventional country boundaries. Our new free course delivered online means that physical distance is not a barrier and can be breached with a single click,” explained Dr Aleksej Heinze, senior lecturer at Salford Business School.

“I want to encourage anyone with an interest in social media and digital marketing to give the new course a go. Whether you’re just starting out or want to increase your knowledge and keep up with the latest trends, this course is for you. It’s completely free and can be accessed online from anywhere in the world, so what have you got to lose?”

The course is funded with support of the European Commission and has been developed and will be delivered through a pan-European partnership, which includes Kaunas University of Technology, University of Lodz, University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and CITY College, in consultation with digital marketing recruitment agency, The Candidate Ltd.

It will be delivered by Iversity.
