The recently established post box services business from Anthony and Alex Redpath uses an app called POBoxes.com to let people access their mail through mobiles and tablets.

In a mixture of new and old techologies, account holders receive notifications when their mail has been uploaded, which can then be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.

Alex Redpath said: “After Richard Winhammar, an investor in the IT sector, saw our business’ potential and invested in excess of £100,000 in it we were thrilled! A fraction of this money has gone towards developing our app. The rest of the investment will go towards sustaining our recent growth.

“It’s great to be running a North East company that’s leading the way in post box services. With the rise in popularity of smart phones and tablets, we knew this was the perfect opportunity to drive our business forward.”

Last year the pair noticed an increasing demand for its services, after customer sign ups quadrupled.

The business has also opened a new office in Darlington’s Blackwell Lane Business Centre and is looking to recruit a Mail Handler alongside planning to introduce a franchise model overseas to expand the business further.
