Critically acclaimed dark comedy Inside No.9 is to return to BBC Two later this month for a third series.

Felicity Kendal (Fawlty Towers), Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) and Tamzin Outhwaite (New Tricks) are among the guest stars appearing on the five-film series, created by Reece Shearsmith and Blackburn-born Steve Pemberton.

The anthology format will continue as before, with each film set in a different location and the style and tone changing each week, combining a different mix of horror, thriller, drama and comedy.

New settings for the series include a restaurant after closing time, an art gallery, a karaoke booth and the doors of some very ordinary-seeming houses.

Also starring will be Fiona Shaw (The Harry Potter films, True Blood), Jason Watkins (W1A, The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies), Keeley Hawes (Line Of Duty, The Casual Vacancy), Jessica Raine (Wolf Hall, Call The Midwife), Mathew Baynton (The Wrong Mans), Rula Lenska (Coronation Street, Gypo) and Morgana Robinson (The Morgana Show, House Of Fools).

Inside No. 9 is a BBC Studios comedy production commissioned by Shane Allen, executive produced by Jon Plowman (Absolutely Fabulous, W1A), produced by Adam Tandy (The Thick of It, Detectorists) and directed by Guillam Morales (Julia’s Eyes).
