Is television for old people? That's the subject up next for debate in the Discuss series.

Former North West Tonight presenter Penny Haslam will chair the debate at Manchester Central Library on Wednesday between 6.30pm and 8pm.

The debate will look at whether, in the age of box sets, netflix, Sky+ and YouTube, television is now heading towards "oblivion".

It will also ask what this means for licence fee-payers, advertisers, the future of other commercial channels and pay TV networks, but will also look at the increasing power of TV over football.

David Campbell, film and commercials director, and writer and producer Jim Poyser will speak for the motion, with Alex Connock, MD of Shine North, and TV strategist Jeremy Nye against.
