Remaining Sumners assets head to eBay

This afternoon, JP Surveyors has placed the unsold stock from its auction of Sumners’ assets on eBay.

Of the original 500 lots, 54 are being placed on the auction site, with a number of others being added to a separate online auction. Both close on 23rd September.

The firm, which is acting on behalf of Sumners’ liquidators, said that the first auction had gone “very well” with sales higher than expected.

Sumners was founded in 1992 and at its peak was the largest post production facility outside of London. In 2012 it was forced to lay off a third of its workforce, moving to new, smaller offices at MediaCityUK – in doing so changing its name to Sumners MediaCity Ltd.

It was still attracting big name productions though, including The Mill, Young Dracula and Restaurant Wars: The Battle for Manchester. Work on World’s End for CBBC transferred to Timeline TV North.
