Red Productions Company drama Last Tango in Halifax won three awards at the Royal Television Society North West Awards, held this weekend in Manchester.
The BBC One drama, which is filmed in the North and attracted over 7million viewers for its first series, picked up the best scriptwriter prize for Sally Wainwright, best performance for Anne Reid and best drama series for Red.
Granada Reports won two awards
Granada Reports’ coverage of the Hillsborough panel report was recognised twice, winning it best regional news programme and best regional story for Hillsborough the Truth at Last. The BBC also won an award for its Hillsbrough coverage, picking up best single documentary for Hillsborough: Never Forgotten.
Other winners at the event, which was hosted by BBC Sport’s Dan Walker, included Lion Eyes Television, Timeline Television North, Platform Productions and Company Pictures North.
