Managing director, David Robertshaw, explained that the move was part of a new phase of growth at the Southport-based marketing agency

“It’s been a great few years at Access Point; we’ve had 20% year-on-year growth, moved into new offices, improving our working environment and just making it a fantastic place to work. Never wanting to rest on our laurels we have been looking at other ways of making things better and wanted to get somebody on board who could offer something different, to help us with our next stage of growth,” he said.

“We decided to go out and recruit a non-executive director for our Board, somebody with retail experience and who has been involved in growth of small to medium sized companies in the past. We had over 30 initial enquiries to this position from very successful people who have been at the top of their respective professions – it was very difficult to pull up a short-list!”

Cutt originally started out in banking, before moving into HR and taking senior positions at Thomas Cook, Boots and B&Q. He now acts as a consultant, most notably, helping Co-operative redesign its governance structures.

“I can tell we’re not only going to have great fun over the next few years but with Mike’s help, contacts and experience, continue our fantastic journey,” continued Robertshaw.

His first role at Access Point will be to analyse where the agency currently stands and then make recommendations for its future.

“I’m delighted to be joining Access Point as their non-executive director at an important point in its growth journey. It is a fantastic business with huge potential and great people. I’m thrilled to be working with them to make the most of that potential,” said Cutt.
