Lime Pictures, the Liverpool production company behind Hollyoaks and The Only Way is Essex, saw revenues grow by nearly 20% in the year to the end of December 2014.
The company’s turnover jumped from £65.6m to £78.4m as it picked up commissions from Disney and Bravo and it continued to successfully plough the real-time genre.
However Lime, whose parent group All3Media was acquired by Discovery Communications and Liberty Global for £550m a year ago, also reported a dip in profits to £9.8m – for the 69 weeks ending December 31 2014 – compared with £11.4m in the 52 weeks ending August 31 2013.
The accounts state the fall in profit was due to the release of associated company Lime Pictures Group from its liability to pay a £4.2m debt owed to Lime Pictures.
In the report, the directors said: “The profit for the financial period amounted to £6.6m (2013: £8.5m). The decrease in profit for the year was due to the write-off of an intercompany loan.
“The company continues to perform well across its slate of scripted and non-scripted continuing series and has been successful in securing new programme commissions.”
