Manchester’s Love has hired Ben Akers as creative director of advertising.

Akers relocated to the city last year from chief productions where he was was also creative director, having spent the previous six years in Australia. Before moving to Australia he enjoyed time at BBH, HHCL and Mother.

Akers said, “LOVE has long been an agency I’ve been impressed by for its strong portfolio of clients and creative that is always executed brilliantly. Dave and Trevor set down an ambitious challenge for me. Never one to shy away from such an invite, I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and making a difference.”

During his 15-year career, Akers has won more than 50 industry awards including Cannes Lions and D&AD. In 2013 he was named in Australian Creative’s “Power Top 20” and was proud to judge on the 2014 D&AD White Pencil. He’s worked across a wide span of sectors and on some of the world’s most recognised brands including Barclays, Virgin, Audi, British Airways, Puma, and Toyota.

In his new role at the agency, Akers will be responsible for the agencies advertising and content output across the client base and will report into LOVE founder and executive creative director, David Palmer.

Palmer said, “I’ve been following Ben’s career for a while and have consistently been blown away by his creative talent. We’re growing at a rapid pace and Ben’s arrival will help broaden our creative offering to clients.”
