“The partnership packages we have in place, and the ones we are still discussing, will help ensure that the monetisation of Super League’s sponsorship portfolio is greater than it was in both 2011 and 2012,” said Wood.
“We have not ruled out the possibility that a title sponsor could be in place for Super League in 2013 but we will not accept an inferior offer just for the comfort of having a name at the front of the competition.”
2013 is set to become a massive year for the Leeds-based RFL, having already opened an office at MediaCityUK to deal with the Rugby League World Cup. It’s also signed a 2 year deal with Tetley to sponsor the Challenge Cup.
“With a home Rugby League World Cup in the autumn, the most competitive Super League season we have ever had a new-look Championships, 2013 is set to be the most important year in the sport’s history,” continued Wood.
“2013 will see more commercial revenue flow into the sport than at any time before and we are well placed to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
