We Are Indigo announces 2025 partnership with unemployed women’s charity

Global public relations and communications agency We Are Indigo has announced a 2025 charity partnership with Smart Works Greater Manchester.

This inspiring non-profit helps unemployed women across the UK transform their lives by providing the confidence, skills, and tools they need to secure employment and achieve financial independence.

Since its inception, Smart Works has supported over 35,000 women nationally, and 2025 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Greater Manchester service. To celebrate this milestone, We Are Indigo will provide pro bono creative communications and media support throughout the year.

We Are Indigo will also assist in supporting Smart Works Greater Manchester events and campaigns, amplifying awareness of the charity’s crucial services and its transformative impact across the northwest region.

Smart Works partners with job centres, work and skills programme providers, care leaving services, and a myriad of other organisations offering support to those women aged 16 to 66 who are actively seeking employment. The charity provides its clients with job search coaching followed by a pre-interview service to help find them find the perfect interview outfit (free, high quality, and theirs to keep) followed by 121 interview skills coaching, and, when the client gets the job, she is invited back for a second dressing to build a capsule work wardrobe.

These resources empower women to reframe their experiences as valuable assets in the workplace, preparing them for interview success.

The results speak for themselves: 63% of Smart Works clients secure employment within a month of their appointment, and 94% report feeling more confident. Last year alone, Smart Works supported 833 women across Greater Manchester and aims to assist 10,000 women nationally in 2025.

Founded in North London in 2013, Smart Works set out to make its services accessible to women in need, expanding to centres across the UK, now including Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, and Glasgow.

Jan Iceton, chair of Smart Works Greater Manchester, said: “2025 is a key year for our wonderful charity, not only do we turn ten years old, but we will pass a milestone in supporting, empowering, and inspiring over 1,000 unemployed women across then northwest region to build the skills and confidence they need to get a job.

“Our clients tell us the two key reasons for wanting a job is to secure a sense of purpose and identity, and the build financial independence for themselves and for their family. In this very special year, we are thrilled that We Are Indigo will help us raise even greater awareness of the services we provide, enabling us to reach more clients, and to share the powerful impact of our work across our local communities.”

Joanne Greer, managing director at We Are Indigo, added: “Supporting non-profit organisations and contributing to the local community is core to We Are Indigo’s values. Over the years, we have delivered impactful PR campaigns for numerous charities, and we’re proud to bring our expertise to Smart Works Greater Manchester in 2025.
