The first trailer for How to Talk to Girls at Parties – a sci-fi tale about a punk rocker who falls in love with a beautiful alien at a 1970s party – has been released.

The film, which is taken from Neil Gaiman’s short story of the same name, was shot in Sheffield and is backed by Screen Yorkshire. The story follows two 15-year-old boys who inadvertently crash an eerie party in 1970s South London and meet a group of women who aren’t human.

The main protagonists are punk Enn, played by Alex Sharp, and alien Zan, played by Elle Fanning. Nicole Kidman plays Queen Boadicea, the leader of Zan’s faction.

Co-writer and director John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch). The film is set for release in the UK on May 11 and in the US on May 18th. You can watch the trailer below.
