Partheepan Jesuthasan

A Teesside University student has won first place in Adobe’s Digital Edge Awards 2023.

Partheepan Jesuthasan, a student in MSc Digital Marketing at Teesside University International Business school, was voted the overall winner in the prestigious competition, as well as claiming top spot in the Business category.

Adobe’s Digital Edge Awards highlight game-changing student projects that leverage Creative Cloud products like Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro to elevate academic work.

Partheepan planned to develop a digital marketing initiative to promote Teesside University Football Academy, using Adobe Creative Cloud applications to produce a unique landing page, Instagram ads and the entire campaign execution plan.

He also created a contest which could give students the chance to win a trial football session led by a Middlesbrough Football Club player as part of the campaign plan.

Teesside University was the first higher education institution in Europe to become an Adobe Creative Campus, offering students and staff new creative and digital opportunities as well as access to the Adobe Creative Cloud, which boosts their creative, communication, and collaboration skills.

It forms part of the University’s Future Facing Learning strategy, which prioritises digital literacy through new forms of teaching and learning.

Professor Mark Simpson, Teesside University Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), said: “We are delighted to see Partheepan pick up this amazing award due to his hard work and digital design skills.

“At Teesside University, we believe that innovation helps us create a world where progress benefits everyone. We have worked hard to develop an exceptional learning environment, where we use the latest tools and technology to deliver an excellent student experience, and it is fantastic to see this reflected in the amazing work being produced by our students.”

Jesuthasan plans to use the prize money attached to the award to help establish his own marketing agency.

“Through the guidance at Teesside University, I gained extensive knowledge of digital marketing theories and their real-world applications,” said Partheepan. “I am excited to announce my upcoming initiative which focuses on small and medium-sized businesses by harnessing the potential of innovation and digital marketing technologies.”
