Ahead of the highly anticipated release of the Top 50 Digital Agencies ranking next week, we can now give a sneak peek into two of the new entrants and returning agencies set to feature on this year’s list.
The ranking for 2025, which will be officially announced next week, sees plenty of changes within the top 10 and new indie agencies rising steadily up the ranking.
As a reminder, for the past decade Prolific North has teamed up with long-term research partners Mustard to create this list and ensure the research process is rigorous, confidential, diligent and, most importantly, entirely independent of Prolific North. The top 50 combines financial metrics such as turnover and profit with other factors like growth and headcount.

Although we can’t reveal where they feature on the ranking just yet, check out the new entrants for 2025:
Mabo
Lee Mableson launched the business from his spare room in Guisborough in 2013, which has since bloomed into a growing digital marketing agency with a team of 65.
Headquartered in Middlesbrough, the agency is a specialist in paid search, social media, search engine optimisation (SEO) and Amazon advertising services.
In 2020, Mabo expanded and crossed borders into Scotland, making Glasgow its second home. And in 2024, the agency took home the trophy for Best Ecommerce/Retail Campaign at the Prolific North Marketing Awards for its work with Trade Radiators – Driving Traffic and Boosting Sales with a Pinterest-Powered Meta Funnel.
Serotonin
Clair Heaviside and Dom Carter teamed up to launch a new agency called The Light in 2019 before rebranding to Serotonin in August 2020. And what a successful few years the agency has had since being named as one of Prolific North’s first Independent Agencies to Watch back in 2023.
Serotonin, headquartered in Manchester with a second office in London, has worked with the likes of ASSOS, Bélier, Bella Italia, Warner Hotels, Las Iguanas, Grainger, Legal & General, Riverstone Living, NQ64, SUDU.
The agency has won numerous trophies, including two at Prolific North’s Creative Awards in 2024, but its owners have picked up their own share of accolades along the way too.
Clair Heaviside was awarded Business Woman of The Year in 2023, and named as one of Natwest’s Top Ten Female Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2022 while Dom Carter was named as a Tech Pioneer in the BIMA 100 2023, and Marketing & Media Professional of The Year (NWYPA).
