German identity verification firm IDnow is opening a Manchester office at WeWork on St Peter’s Square.

Three staff will initially be based there, but this could increase to 10 or 12 staff within the next three years, the firm said.

Since launching in the UK with a London office in November last year, IDnow has seen enormous demand from organisations for its AI-based product AutoIdent.

IDnow uses AI-based technology to check all security features on ID documents. Its customers include Bank of Scotland, BNP Paribas, Commerzbank, eventim, Sixt and Telefonica Deutschland.

Talks are taking place with the Government about creating “immunity passports” for people who have recovered from COVID-19.

The deal could see IDnow’s technology used to determine how recently someone has been tested and whether they can return to work.

In May, Prolific North reported that Firework PR had won a pitch to launch IDnow in the UK, following its $40m financing round.

Knutsford-based Firework will initially develop a three-month integrated launch campaign, focusing on brand messaging and content, supported by media and influencer relations, social media content and promotion of its podcast series.
